Our Lead Developer is stepping down from their full-time role to a part-time role, and as such, we are looking for a web developer to join our team!

Job Type: Project-based Contractor, with the opportunity to grow into a permanent position

JOB SUMMARY

The Web Developer is responsible for supporting web development projects for the agency. This includes developing, testing, and launching cutting-edge responsive websites in collaboration with the team. The ideal candidate will work to translate user and business needs into functional frontend web designs, on budget and on time. As the agency continues to grow, the Web Developer will continue to look ahead for opportunities to advance their design and coding skills.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the development and launch of all web-based projects in popular CMS platforms including but not limited to WordPress, Shopify, and Squarespace
  • Code and implement websites including functionality and plugins in collaboration with the Lead Developer, Creative Director, and other team members
  • Design and implement new features, enhancements, and content to existing websites
  • Troubleshoot all web development and site migration issues
  • Integrate with third-party APIs
  • Build out responsive layouts for desktop, tablet, and mobile, using front-end builders such as Divi and Elementor
  • Complete projects within the agreed-upon deadline and budget

REQUIREMENTS

  • Three (3) years of relevant work experience in web development, or a similar combination of education and experience
  • Strong knowledge of current web development languages
  • PHP 5
  • HTML5/CSS3
  • JavaScript/jQuery
  • MySQL
  • Shopify Liquid
  • Strong knowledge and experience with network diagnostics, network analytics tools and administration of CPANEL, SSL and DNS software tools
  • Strong knowledge of WordPress website development
  • Knowledge of existing native WordPress functions
  • Experience in the creation of custom post types and implementation of custom fields
  • Experience in the creation of plugins/widgets written to conform to WordPress standards
  • Experience in the creation of clean, logical, well-documented and reusable code
  • Theme/template integration including Divi and Elementor
  • Knowledge of SEO principles and platform best practices
  • Familiarity with web standards, accessibility, and usability
  • Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them
  • Extensive knowledge of digital marketing industry trends
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in person (when safe to do so) with team members in Campbell River is an asset
  • Google Analytics, Analytics set-up, Data Studios, Google Tag Manager, and Google Search Console is an asset
